Weekertoft launch

So finally the date approaches for the launch of the 4 CD box set on the new label Weekertoft.

It has meant a fair bit of work for all concerned, not least label partner and good friend Paul G Smyth who has handled all the design and production issues with a cheerfulness and good grace that is extraordinary. I am very lucky to be working with him and look forward to future collaborations but for now it is the boxed set that fills the to do lists.

We have a launch concert booked in for February 5th and all the musicians on the recordings will be there, apart from Pat Thomas who is in Antigua. There is a film of Pat made by Helen Petts and filmed when the tour hit Brighton and this will be shown in his absence. The venue is large by every day improvised music standards and has a capacity of 600 so it is ‘all hands on deck’ to try to fill it. We will be moving chairs and tables around, re-jigging the lighting and doing our best to create an intimate environment so the music is the focus.

There will also of course be a shop selling the box set and also Mopomoso T shirts as, not only do we celebrate a new release on a new label but also 25 years of Mopomoso making it, among other things, the longest running concert series dedicated to improvised music in the UK. Surely an occasion for a celebratory T shirt! Soon to be available on the Weekertoft website in S,M,L,XL and XXL

Do come along, bring your friends and join in the fun! Buy the boxed set and be on the guest list…

As John Eyles writing in All About Jazz says ‘Making Rooms already seems certain to feature prominently in many an end-of-year list of best releases. Yes, a future classic.’
